Trouble with food at 6 months

Hi, my DD has been on solids now since 4 months and is currently approaching 7 months and is mainly on solids with supplementary follow on milk. She is currently teething and is a little under the weather at the moment and this is where the problem lies. The last few days she’s refused any solid food, even her favourites. She is drinking milk but I’m worried that the follow on milk isn’t enough to sustain her if this goes on for longer than a few days. Should I put her back on stage 1 milk and hope it’s a phase or keep her on follow on with more feeds and keep trying with the solids?

If she’s feeling rough, I’d just give her more milk feeds. Is she having anything for the teething pain too?

Yes, I’m putting Bonjela on during the day and Nurofen at night. I’ve tried the powders but they made no difference. She’s very good with it and doesn’t cry but I can see it’s bothering her.

Could you try her with some soothing foods too? Try a home, ade ice lolly, chunks of cool cucumber, a frozen banana or a cold, clean, wet flannel to chew on.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been feeding her with cold puréed fruit but she won’t have it. I will certainly try the flannel tip and the ice pop. I always thought the worst was when they started teething but with her it’s now they have popped through.

youll get this alot from now on, any sniffle ny sign of tooth can put them off food. dont stress at all lots of babies refuse food until there 1 and are thriving. my son probably ate for overal 2 months before ge turned one because either weather or teeth or cold. hes 14 months and in 2-3 clothing and is thriving. dont worry also ur on formula which has added formula i know its not absorbed very well because its formula but its still enough. id just give her a break off food for 2 days then try again. i wasted so much food offering daily.

I would continue to offer food ( but don’t go to too much trouble) eg a bit of baby rice with milk or bread is often popular to chew on. It will pass, don’t worry
