Can any one help? My honey keeps waking though the night up to 8 times and although he doesn't cry, he whines. I'm sure its not a food issue but can't think what else it can be.

Are you sure it's not hunger?? does he settle after a feed??

My DD was teething at this age, could be that.

Waking and whining is OK - it doesn't mean there's anything wrong, just that he's woken up.

Have you tried leaving him to settle when he wakes and whines, or do you go straight to him? As long as it's only whining and not crying, it would be worth leaving him for a while, see if he can settle himself back to sleep.

have tried leaving him, he eventually cries, it seems he is not actually fully awake, just extremely fretful and restless when asleep. settled him 5 times last night, just wondered if anybody else had that experience and how they got passed it.

Hello all. Where have you been untill now. Wish I'd found this net sooner. Lately we have problems putting him to bed and sleeping all night. Have tried a dream feed but HV now says to stop that. As soon as I put him in his cot he wakes and cries. He now has a husky voice from crying so much. I pick him up (eventually), he goes off to sleep then wakes as soon as his head touches the mattress. Saw my HV today who seggested 'shush & pat. any one else tried this???

My DS used to do this. He only ever wanted his dummy and he'd fall back to sleep. I don't know if you use a dummy, but is there something else you use to help him sleep like a mobile or a blankie.

DS still wakes every now and then, but its always his dummy he wants.
