Will only poo in a pull up

I'm new to Mumsnet but didn't know what else to do. My 5 year old DD refuses to use the toilet.. She has never been potty trained for number 2. We have tried everything even cutting a hole in the pull up and asking her to use the toilet. Nothing works. Problem is she waits until bedtime for a her night time pull up to go on (she still wets the bed). She then explodes (awake). I'm getting really sick of this because I hate having to change a nappy of a 5 year old :( Plus poo does not stay in a pull up well so we end up with leaks etc.

I am thinking of upgrading to Drynites as they might be a bit bigger for her and might not leak so much... Has anyone used Drynites for there daughter are they any good? . any ideas on how I can move forward would be appreciated :) Or if you are going through the same thing and just want to vent.. I'm happy to do that with you too :)

Hugs x

That would get to me too OP. Could you put her a nappy in but insists that as soon as it’s on, she sits on a potty until she’s pooed. After a couple of weeks, start to make the nappy a little more loose but she still sits on the potty when it’s on. You very gradually do this until eventually you just lay the nappy in the potty and she sits on it and poos. This weeks for quite a few but if it doesn’t work for you, I’d be tempted to take her to the GP and ask for her to be checked out.

I’d also give her plenty of high water foods and lots of drinks to ease things along for her Smile

It's a really common issue so don't panic.

As above, it takes very small steps, get her to go into the Bathroom when she poo's first of all, then once she is okay with that get her sitting on the toilet, then cut a hole in the nappy so the poo is dropping into the toilet.
Then after a few weeks of that, put a nappy into the toilet so she is going on the nappy. Then, once that is going well you just take the nappy away.

Just don't rush it, smal steps over the next few months.
Good Luck.
