You see but you mustn't say anything nasty.

Personally I think Gina Ford's parenting policy is absolutely splendid and I have absolutley no criticisms whatsoever of the "Contented Little Baby Book". I disagree entirely with any ridiculous comparison with ballistic weaponry with babies attached being fired into Middle-Eastern countries. I also entirely refute any suggestion that it should more properly be called the "Contented Little Parent Book" - what a ludicrous suggestion. I applaud wholeheartedly her parenting style and absolutely condemn the suggestion some have raised that her change of heart may be anything whatsoever to do with the publication on 19 July of the her new book "The Contented Baby's First Year: A Month-by-month Guide to Your Baby's Development".

Hooray for Gina Ford!

Gina - she's so great even Dexy's Midnight Runners did a song about her!

ROFL at amazon comment 'used it to prop up moses basket...cured my baby's reflux' gina is truly a marvel

krang · 07/06/2007 16:05

I've found her advice works brilliantly for me and my DS (and yes, in the early days, I was so utterly screwed up by PND and PTSD I really did need reminding to eat...) Each to their own.

But her people and PR skills are somewhat lacking. Which is a shame.

Go on, line up and give me a good kicking.

frances5 · 07/06/2007 18:19

Just wondering if Gina will now sue amazon. Some of bad reviews of her book are quite personal.

chilledmama · 07/06/2007 19:32

A lot of those reviews just make you sound sad with nothing better to do...

Sorry but there it is...if she's sssoooo bad then why spend all your time whinging about her!

WinkyWinkola · 07/06/2007 21:17

I guess there's always time to have a giggle!

Hi every1,
Ive just read this thread, god have you lot that seem against Gina Ford got nothing better to dO?

I personally have found her books brilliant, i was a tired out mum struggling with a my daughter, since starting the routines my baby is a happy well fed and settled baby-now whats wrong with that?? im proof that the routines really work.

If you don't like the books then fine don't read them!

Surely ther is more important issues going on in the world to rant about-instead of having a go at this splendid woman who has been a gog send for me and im sure for many many other mothers.

God, she's just brilliant, isn't she?

WideWebWitch · 07/06/2007 22:20

Oh Jules, no one is saying anything other than how useful and brilliant her advice is. We all think it's fantastic.

BrothelSprouts · 07/06/2007 22:23

I wish someone would refer to me as 'splendid'. I can honestly say that I have never been called splendid.

Jules,

Why are you so defensive? No one has said anything nasty about Gina Ford. Surely writing how amazing Gina Ford is is just as sad as saying you don't like her book?

Of course bullitin boards including Mumsnet are for people with nothing better to do, or they don't want to do the housework.

If your life is so busy, then why are you posting/ reading mumsnet?

I think the suing issue was so disproportionate that I am not prepared to even acknowledge that this woman or her books exist. She is anti free speech and that is harmful to future generations, much more harmful than the odd e number passing their lips!

jules44 · 08/06/2007 13:01

there are some very negayive comments at the start of the thread, the rest are spot on

Daddster · 08/06/2007 13:06

How about a Gina Ford competition?

Have a look at the Profile for chilledmama and Jules44 and see if you can spot the similarity. Prize is the lowest price of a Contented Little Baby Book on Amazon .

There is no doubt that GFs routines have been a godsend to some parents - but her methods do not suit everybody. My son had reflux and needed feeding little and often. I read GFs book because somebody lent it to me. I gave it back without using anything from it. Interestingly, despite my son needing such little and often feeding day and night he sleeps without problems and has done so since the reflux improved at 12 months. In fact he does the magical 7-7 without any of Gina's routines and is a happy and contented child.

Gina's methods are controversial and people feel strongly about them so they WILL discuss them. I personally can't stand the woman - this business with Mumsnet has confirmed the (poor)opinion I already had of her.

Daddster · 08/06/2007 13:36

Frances5 - I have no idea why Gina Ford did not sue Amazon - it must be because she is a nice person and does not go around suing people for the sake of it.

On a completely unrelated note - can anyone refer me to a thread on bullying? I am sure there was mention somewhere of bullies on picking on those weaker than them or something like that...

SpareWheel · 08/06/2007 13:54

Wickedwaterwitch is SO right - we come not to praise Gina, but to say really, really nice stuff about what a great, un-litigious and straightforward person she is.
