I have a 4 year old child who still lashes out at other kids. It’s gettig a bit better. But it’s awful in a social situation.

When it happens she is told no. Today I’ve had enough and taken her toys from her and she’s being made to be sat on the sofa.

I feel that she shouldn’t still be hurting other children at her age. She’s been told enough bloody times. I wonder if she’s going to be a psychopath or something. I’m not joking and I do have a high opinion and praise all the goodness she does. But this is getting to the point we have no one to play with.

Any advice? Anyone’s been through similar?

Do you mean physically or verbally?

It's common for 4 year old kids to end up saying mean stuff in anger.

Both. She’s really mean. But I meant the hitting etc

Is it her sibling that she's hurting or other kids?

Speaking from experience, it's not unusual for sibling altercations to end physically at age 4. My kids have never physically hurt people at school but have almost certainly said mean things. They have a much higher tolerance for other kids behaving badly than their own siblings.

Anyone. Less so her sibling...

Oh yes, this is us! Mine is desperate to have kids over to play constantly but while the roughness is going on I'm reluctant to arrange anything as it always ends badly. It's been going on for a while but not showing any signs of growing out of it, as I was hoping. How do you get through to them that no one will want to play with them if they hit or push?!?
