my dd (5) is a compulsive chewer.

She chews everything, her toys her clothes. I have found several things ruined because of this. I dont even think she realises that she is doing it most of the time.

She used to have a dummy when she was little and I wonder whether this stems from that.

Dh and I have been wondering if we should give her something she can carry around purely for chewing purposes but this feels like a step backwards.

So how can get her to stop ruining her things?

hello,
assuming all is ok with her teeth and mouth? my sons recent check up revealed a tooth emerging through the roof of his mouth (!!!) which must have been driving him crazy. if not have you tried a zinc supplement which i know others have tried and had success with (apparently zinc deficiency can make you chew and suck non foods).....
no eprsonal experience with my kids but I have heard it helps so might be worth trying...

Thanx for that pagwatch, had never heard about this happening with a Zinc definciency, must give it a try.
