Having terrible trouble with DS6 and both at a loss now

Has anyone ever sought external help with parenting / behaviour/ management techniques?

Feeling pretty desperate and really sad that we don't seem able to get the situation under control on our own

Sad

There's no shame in asking for support. There's also no shame in seeking assessment or support for a child with a neurological difference if that might be the issue.

The world is teeming with people who've had to seek advice and support as parents and lots of them are keen to share what they've learned with others.

The best advice I was ever given was that all behaviour is communication. Stop trying to change the behaviour and, instead, concentrate on finding out the root cause that the child is trying to communicate.

Thanks for your reply, really appreciate it.
No I don't think it's a behaviour disorder or anything more permanent or ASD type. More frustration and rage!

If I do ask for support, where would you go? GP? Health visitors?

Sorry you're having these problems! Either GP or health visitor would be fine. They might point you at a parenting group at first - go along if they do, parenting groups can be a mixed bag but I got a lot of support and many good ideas.

What makes you rule out ASD?
