8.5montj baby ASD?

Hi,

I’ve had a few concerns about my DS and really could use some advice about whether I need to be worrying.

  • DS is extremely active and stimulated by his environment (super alert, has met all his motor milestones - fine and gross- early and is happiest roaming around). Hes happy and energetic but much more interested in what he can find/play with than people. He does love to laugh and thinks it’s hysterical when people tickle him, dance and sing silly songs but won’t stay engaged in face to face games for long.
  • Never been a cuddly baby but does like being held and walked around. Used to go quite stiff when upset as a small baby and plank. He doesn’t do this anyone and has generally loosened up but still won’t lean in for a cuddle unless breastfeeding.
  • Used to respond to his name about 50% of the time but this has suddenly decreased to almost never in the last few weeks. This is so confusing! I don’t think he knows his name but was previously just responding to my voice. He does turn to sounds and I have no concerns about his hearing.
  • Eye contact good from a distance but less so close up and he’s more likely to look at my mouth.
  • Babbles some consonants (da, ya, la, wa) and some strings (yayayaya and Babababa) but no more than that.

Would be great to hear people’s thoughts! Thanks.

You’ve can’t check babies for ASD so I’d stop worrying, if you can and try and relax and enjoy your baby. He sounds lovely.

Sounds like a normal 8.5 month old to me! Smile
