My DS has one testicle that has yet to descend. Our doctors are pretty rubbish so wondered if anyone else had any advice on when it should be treated etc. I am also not so keen on an op or hormone injection if there is any alternative med that may work. Has anyone heard of anything?
My DH & I are at the moment not too worried & where wondering if we could leave it till about a yr before seeking the drs opinion?

Get the opinion sooner rather than later. The advice when my ds's testicle was done 6 years ago was to keep observing till 16 months to see if it comes down by itself. If it hasn't come down by then, they operate. It is a minor operation, done as a day case and is not particularly distressing for the child as long as you keep him topped up with calpol/nurofen afterwards. The scars fade to the point of invisibility.

Leaving an undescended testicle for too long after babyhood causes a massive increase in a man's risk of getting testicular cancer in later life, so it's not something to be blase about. If you're not happy with your GP find another one you can trust, but don't do nothing.
