At what age can dd go in a cabin bed?

She's 2.3 now & I know she's too small yet for a cabin bed but we've been offered a practically new one for free. It seems a shame to turn it down when we'll be needing one eventually anyway but just wondered how long we'll have to have the cabin bed & 2 cot beds in the one room before we can put her in the cabin bed & get rid of one of the cot beds.

ds had one at just 3 and he was fine. only for naps though. only cos it was old and rickety.

he loved climbing into it and out again, no mean feat as, among other shortcomings. it had no ladder.

My DD1 has been in either a cabin bed and now a top bunk since she was just 3, as long as the bed has high sides I don't see a safety issue with it.

The only thing you might want to consider is how easy it will be for her to get in and out for a wee in the night?
