17 month old biting

Ds2 has taken to biting if he doesn’t get his own way.
Eg... if I need to take something away from him, or if I have to pick him up and he doesn’t want to be, his immediate reaction is to look for my hand/arm with his mouth and bite me?!
Obviously I’m firmly telling him no, but is there anything else I can do? Is this just a phase?! And also, it’s so odd as this isn’t something he’s LEARNED to do, it’s obviously an innate behaviour.
I know sometimes older kids bite too, but when they’re older, I guess you can explain and reason with them, but that’s a lot harder at 17 months!

Yes, it's normal. He can't yet express his anger/frustration, so he bites. Keep telling him off and perhaps try to distract him with something before he gets the chance to bite.

I actually wouldn't give out to him as he might enjoy getting a reaction . I would just act like nothing happened and distract him and forget about it.
