Baby not pointing

Can anyone shed any light on why my 17 month old DS isn't pointing?

He is very social and jolly. Brings us toys to look at, follows my finger if I point, or follows my eyes to see where I'm looking. He's very interested in my reactions to noises, new situations etc.

He used to point with his whole hand but now rarely points at all.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Are you too good at anticipating his needs? Have you tried playing dumb and asking him to point at things?

Could be something to
the meeting needs point. He is pfb so maybe doesn't need to get our attention. Also I realised tonight that he points to his nose, ears, mouth etc (and to ours) if we ask. I'll try getting him to point at far away things by playing dumb! Good advice thank you.
