my lo is normally pretty placid and cries only for food or when he's been startled. For the last few days he's cried basically all day near enough, especially when i put him down. He doesn't seem right but hasn't got a temp. he's been frantically gnawing his hands and dribbling but I can't feel any teeth cutting through. Is he too young to teethe? Does it sound like he might be teething? I'm a first time mum and really worried about my little lad! Any advice very gratefully received. (p.s. Calpol doesn't seem to have altered the crying at all)

thanks.

Someone else posted a thread on teething at a similar age - the teeth start moving down a while before they actually appear and it's only when you actually see them that you realise what the last month's trauma was all about!

Chances are it is only teething by the sounds of it. Bear in mind that some babies are born with teeth. My dsd had her first when she was 3 months old, apparently.

But, if he hasn't settled with calpol, then I'd be inclined to take him to the doctor just to be on the safe side.

Sorry - point being that you're never too young to teethe (sp?)...

My LO started teething at this age so could be - although Calpol should make a difference. Have you changed anything from his routine at all? Could he be overtired? It's so hard to guess at this age isn't it, sometimes they just need more attention and cuddles through a growth spurt. x
