Game-related aggression

My son has an X-box and he and his friends play games like Fortnite and Halo. They all have headphones and chat to each other during game time. I've noticed that some of the time they're getting quite argumentative and aggressive... it doesn't seem like it's a very enjoyable experience. I do limit his game time anyway but I'm a bit worried about it. I don't want to just ban the thing because that's something I do when he's being naughty and this doesn't feel like that. Any suggestions?

It's normal that they are shouting nonsense while gaming with a head set.

I'd only worry if the insults are personal or they are very sweary. Shouting about the game like "Pick up the 400 wood" or "Land at Tilted Towers not Loot Lake" is harmless.

How old is he OP? If he’s old enough for Halo he’s old enough to have a discussion with you about his behaviour.

Almost 12 now. I think I just need to limit the game time a bit more. Have probably been a bit generous over for first week or so of the holiday.

I think you’ve answered your own questions OP. He’s having unlimited time gaming on Halo, which has a PEGI of 16 and fort nite which seems to be like the crack cocaine of gaming Smile
