My children are driving me nuts!

I'm at my witts end with my 2 youngest boys. Constantly being naughty all the time. Disapline doesn't seem to work with them. They just laugh and still do it. They are 5 & 7 and I am so embarrassed to say that I have lost control over them. My 5 yo is the worse one. He climbs all up the cupboards, wardrobes and fridges. The 7 year olds attitude stinks! They treat me and their father with absolute disrespect. I want to be able to leave the room they are in without worrying what they are going to do. For example I left them playing nicely in their bedroom the other day so I could hang the washing out, only to come back upstairs to find they had drawn all over the walls and decorated the bathroom with my make up. I'm just fed up with this it's happening all the time and I feel like this is my life now. We've tried absolutely everything to get control back but nothing works. I hope some one out there has a miracle solution for me because I'm going to have a mental breakdown soon enough!

How do they behave at school OP, are there any concerns there? What did you do when they drew over thecwalks with your make up?

They are as they're teachers say little angels at school. My 7 year old is awful. Today we treated them all to the zoo only to get back and my 7yo start a facade of attitude and abuse calling me names like fat b###h and so on. I've tried to take away toys etc but nothing. He's now saying he wants to kill everyone. It takes 2 hours to get him to bed

I’m in no way excusing his behaviour but could he just be tired? What time does he go to bed and get up? How much gaming time is he doing and are the devices in his bedroom?

Purplerose99 · 25/07/2018 16:11

He hasn't been in any gaming console for months. We start bedtime at 7 and by the time he stops screaming and shouting its nearly 9pm. He will walk up any time between 6 and 7:30

It sounds like he’s getting just about enough sleep then. Have you read Calm Parents Happy Kids?

Perhaps check to see if your local SureStart children’s centre offers the Triple P parenting course. It offers simple strategies for behaviour issues as well as suggestions for recognising and rewarding good behaviour. They have a website and I think there was some YouTube clips too

I second reading Calm Parents Happy Kids!!
