LO can’t find thumb

Hi my LO is 9 weeks old and found her thumb 2 days ago. The problem is she hadn’t mastered it and is getting very frustrated. She is missing her naps as she will only sleep once she had found her thumb. I have had to comfort nurse her a few times when she has got really agitated.

Her sleep wasn’t that great to begin with so now I’m really worried. I would have preferred her to take a Paci but she won’t and think thumb sucking may really help her self soothe but I just don’t know how long it’s going to take.

Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Not all babies suck their thumb. Leave her to it or offer a dummy again.

My children are older now but are you sure you want to go down the thumb sucking route? I see parents at school tearing their hair out as their 5/6 yo are still thumb sucking. Just personally it’s the last way I would get them to self soothe

Ozgirl I don’t have a choice she is intent on taking her thumb! I have tried lots of pacifiers and often comfort nurse but nothing is helping. And the problem is she’s not taking naps without finding it which she struggles with each time!
