Hey any advice for a mummy with a 5 year old who just refuses to behave, she get all mine and my husbands attention but it seems it isn't good enough she seem to enjoy the negative attention more than the positive, constantly shouting screaming and arguing with us and when she gets told no she will pull her hair nip herself and bite herself or my partner, she has also now started misbehaving at school to the point where she told her teacher and head teacher to F off and she only in reception. Any advice for a mummy who is at her wits end and out of ideas

What have the school said OP? Have they got a plan in place with regards to her behaviour? Have you had a meeting with them?

What things have you tried already?

Tried everything even tried seeing the school senco for advice but nothing seem to be working so the school is sending a behaviour report to the doctors just to see what they can do like the requested we have tried taking the telly away toys away and things like that but she just don't seem to care she only ever seem to want the bad attention never the good that we give her

For now, I’d try her with some fish oils, which may help her to concentrate, and also try the book the Explosive Child.

I wouldn’t wait for the school to contact the GP though. Could you make an appointment this week, go without her and ask for them to refer her to a Paeditrician for an assessment? Have the school suggested the possibility of ASD? It presents differently in girls, to boys and it might be worth reading up on that too Thanks

Yeah we spoke to doctors and they said they can't refer us with out a behaviour report from the school which I think is silly, and yes the head teacher did mention asd but he said it's not 100% it could be that

Have the school said how long it’s goung to take to send the behaviour report?

There’s a good Special Needs section on mn too, but I think you may have to opt in to see the threads now. If it is ASD there are sone lovely MNers in there with lots of experience Smile
