Hi all,

I have a 14 month old who used to say Mama and Dada when she was 12 months.

She has said “sorry” and “Peppa” a couple of times but apart from that just babbles constantly.

People say how chatty she is but I’m worried as she doesn’t even say mama and dadda any more?

Should I be worried?

Hi op, did she say them regularly or just a few times? If it was regularly and then stopped suddenly I would have her seen as this is called "regression" and is more worrying than having never said anything at all. My nephew had this, would say "mama, dada, George (from peppa) and bottle" between 13-16 months and then stopped suddenly and didn't say another word after other than babbling. Unfortunately it was something rare that happened to my nephew and I won't share as I don't want to scare monger as it really was very rare but I would definitely speak to your hv or gp about the regression.

Hi, I hope your hv was able to give you some good advice about how to proceed.
