So when were your children happy to be left alone while you nipped up the shop/ cross the road with the green man?

Not ready yet in this household, when did it happen in yours?

I let my ds(9) go to the shop round the corner last week. Now he keeps asking if he can go and play on a nearby field next to a canal!

Dd1 would do it now if I let her, she is 9.

I don't let her go to the local shop on her own as there is a busy road to cross and a gully to go through which imo she is not old enough to do safely.

I am planning on perhaps letting her walk to my mums in the summer. She lives directly at the back of my house, so dd only has to walk to the end of our road and around the corner, no roads to cross, and I can see her from her bedroom window.

my dd is 9 too She cryed when I suggested she cross the road in town as if I wasnt there, and made no move to cross when the green man did come on.
I have been doing dummy runs on a teeny road leading to a shop near the school.
Shes also doesnt want me nipping up the shop with dd2 and leaving her here.

my DD 9 is happy to be left for a short while, but she has never crossed a big road by herself. Has been round the shop but no roads to cross, and to school by herself again no roads to cross.
