mine didn't - he pretty much just got up and did it...

My ds wasn't interested in cruising either; he just got up one day and walked across the room! In less than a week he walking all the time. He was just over 17 months.

nappyaddict · 25/05/2007 15:36

mercy had he ever stood alone before that?

Both my dds made me walk round and round in circles with them holding hands from about 8 motnhs onwards. They LOVED it!
DD2 had a wicker ottoman/toy chest thing that was just the right height for her to stand up and hold onto - she loved doing that so much we had to take the whole chest with us on holiday once
It was two hands at first, then one. They were both walking by 10 months which was jolly good cos walking holding two hands CRIPPLED me!

He would pull himself up against the sofa and cruise for a bit but no, he never stood alone unaided (or if he did it was very rarely).

I was getting a bit concerned tbh. How old is your dc?

nappyaddict · 25/05/2007 19:23

oh i'm not worried he's only 11 months. was just curious really.

a friend keep saying to me oh isn't he standing on his own yet to which i want to unreasonabbly slap her in the face for. i was certain some babies went straight to walking alone without out ever having standing alone previously. now i know i'm right

You are def. right!

11 months is nothing

tiggyhop · 25/05/2007 20:06

DD just stood up in the middle of the room and set off at 10 months, heading for freedom. DSs who walked at 16 months and her parents watched open mouthed.

Unfortunately she turned round and came back (joke)

hunkermunker · 25/05/2007 20:10

DS1 wouldn't walk holding hands before he could walk properly, but he did cruise. He walked unaided just before he was 17mo.

nappyaddict · 25/05/2007 20:18

see i knew babies did this. i keep getting people saying isn't he crawling, shuffling, pulling up, crusing, standing etc yet and i keep saying no, but some babies don't do any of that - they go straight from sitting to standing.

My ds (13 months) hates the hands thing. If I attempt it he just sits down and refuses to move. He walks around holding on to furniture, the dog, plants etc, all day long.

I've got really sick of people (esp grandparents) asking if he is walking. I've noticed that the question changed at 12 months from 'is he walking yet' to 'is he still not walking yet' (said in outraged tone).
