16 month old feeding routine - advice anyone?

My ds is 16 months. I think I've been a bit slack in progressing his feeding routine and he's still having 4 bottles formula milk a day (at around 7.30, 12, 4 and 7.30).

Which one's did you cut out first and how did you do it with minimal fuss??

Any advice welcome

I'd stop 4oclock first then 12noon. Wasn't a problem I didn't even think about it, just cut it and replaced with more food and water. Went to 3 at 13 months and 2 by 14 months.

he can have cow's milk too.

Yeah - been slack on that one too. Did you just go cold turkey on the formula - or replace over a few weeks with cows milk?

Personally I gave cows milk too early, at 10 months, because he refused all formula full stop, and guzzled the cows milk.

Give half and half for a day or two, if you want (to use up the last packet!) but you can just switch straight away.

have you tried giving a beaker of water (free access) as thhis may cut down on the milk he wants?

Do n't worry about being slack, there''s not rush, is there

I did half and half with ds1, and cold turkey with ds2.

Thanks colditz - he's just started guzzling lots of water and not eating as much - hence why I'm thinking I need to finally cut his milk. Will start tomorrow!

Thanks kewcumber

Ds never took to cow's milk, still on 3 bottles of formula, I'm cutting out the 4 o'clock one now, and should be done with that in about a week. I dropped his 11:30 am one very early as soon as he was eating enough protein at lunch. He's 18 months btw.

I weaned off formula slowly then went to cows milk only mornings and the evening we are finishing hte last packet of formula now but down to a token amount of formula. I was more concerned about disturbing his night-time routine tahn any other time. Cows milk is much easier and he doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

He's 18 months now and I only left him on formula that long because he was anaemic (it has iron)
