Noise sensitivity at 7 months old

My seven month old DD has in the past two weeks developed a sensativity to some weird noises and I’m wondering if this is normal. It’s not loud noises that are the problem as an ambulance can drive past full siren and she doesn’t bat an eyelid. But things like the hoover, the hand blender, a hand dryer and pulling off a piece of sellotape will have her hysterically crying within seconds. She sleeps with white noise on all night long and is perfectly happy with it and used to love noises like the hoover to go to sleep. Is this normal behaviour? And if so, is there anything I can do about it?

Sensitivity doesn't have to be to volume, it can be to types of noise. At 7mo your DD is changing and developing quickly, this could easily be a phase - although it's one that can last several years especially hand dryer issues! All you can do work around it for now and maybe use ear defenders in public toilets if it persists. A lot of children go through a stage of hating the hoover/hand dryers/etc, perfectly normal (and Dyson anything is the work of the devil in terms of noise - vacuum cleaners to hand dryers...horrific)

Some people retain their sensitivity ling term, that's when coping and management strategies are needed.
