Hi I'm only checking as a) I can't really remember what my son did at this age and b) he's on prophylactic antibiotics for bladder reflux but we have to keep an eye out for utis.

This is basically before I start celebrating having a child who likes to go to sleep easily!! My first son's only uti symptom was grumpiness, more crying and very drowsy, hence my query as to if this is normal? I'll probably test his urine anyway but just wanted opinions!

Basically he seems to only have an alert period for about an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the eve while he frantically tries to get as filled up with milk as he can. Only other things awake is begrudgingly with wind / when I insist on a nappy change.

I thought he was waking up a couple of days ago as we had a random 45 mins in the day awake but that's gone.

Today has nodded off after every feed and only woken when has a poo or big fart, been cross to be awake and either dozed off immediately when cuddled or with more milk.

My first was much more alert I'm sure, though is a very bouncy child. This might be just him as he has been known to sleep through a nappy change.

Smiled on cue according to wonder weeks/ the text books but not seeing the more being awake thing!

I think it’s pretty normal for them to go to sleep straight after a feed but if you think he’s more sleep than usual, and isn’t having his awake periods, I definitely call 111.

Thanks, he was perkier in the eve as normal and perky this morning. I think it's just him :)

Hi OP.
I'm in the same boat. Ds1 never slept. Now I have Ds2 who is always asleep! Similarly to your dc he tends to be awake for 1-2 hours when he wakes up at 7.30 am then he will easily then sleep till 9am - 6pm, only waking for milk (falls back to sleep drinking it). Sleeps on the change mat , play mat, bouncer. Sleeps sat upright while trying to burp him! He then has an unsettled 1-2 hours till about 8pm then will fall asleep again till 4am. Wake for a feed then back to sleep till 7.30am and we start again!
I mentioned it at his 8 week check with the doc before his jabs. The doc said some babies are very sleepy but if he's smily and alert when he's awake then don't worry. He did say to keep a sleep diary I'm still worried nearer the 12 week Mark.

My ds is 9 weeks and 2 days by the way. And still just as sleepy as he was! :-)

Ha well I jinxed it! More awake today. But I think it's related to feeding and if I'm busy out and about; I have issues with strong let down so burps wake him/ keep him twisty with wind. I know I was on top of it the previous few days hence a calmer sleepier baby. Today has been hectic and he got very windy. But nice to know he's more chilled if I'm on top of it!
