My son is having major behavioural and learning difficulties at school. He is 9 Year’s old and has been excluded (1week) from school today for throwing a pair of scissors in the classroom whilst having a strop. This is the second exclusion in 3 months, the previous time for 3 days for saying to a teacher “call me that again and see what happens” in response to being called dramatic. Nothing at all happened he was just being a cocky s##t! He has been displaying bad behaviour for over a year now and his school seem to have been supportive if a little slow with putting different strategies in place for him Hmm He is also well behind with work and struggles without one to one support. We are now at the point where he has had an EP assessment which didn’t seem to portray him as bad as i expected and consequently our GP didn’t see fit to refer him to pead although the school are saying he categorically needs to be and I agree. School senco believes he shows ASD,ODD,ADHD traits as well as attachment issues, anxiety. School have sent they’re own referral to pead 9 weeks ago but I have contacted them and they say no record Angry
To the point of my post.... I am totally at a loss as to what to do or who to speak to? The school are saying a lot but not much seems to be happening and his behaviour is getting worse. His attitude stinks and he has no respect for adults. He is an only child and has no contact with his father since age 2. I try my very best with him, he has a regular routine, lots of days out etc. Punishment doesn’t seem to affect him, he has no fear of consequence just shrugs it off says he doesn’t care. He is rude to family members which is very upsetting and makes visiting and finding babysitters difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get him seen by a pead faster or organisations I can contact for advice please? Would be so grateful. B xx

Op where abouts do you live? I think you should go back to your GP with a letter from the school and ask to be referred again.
My friend recently had her son diagnosed privately (she’s in Hertfordshire) took 3 weeks and cost £550 in total, school had now put proper plans and support in place to help her son.
He displayed a lot of what you described.

Hi, I’m a school senco so I might be able to help. Have you been in contact with tour local IASS (formerly Parent Partnership) they are very good at kicking the professionals up the bum when they need it! Google IASS xx

Posted too soon! Could I ask...? My dd displays bossy and sometimes physical bullying to other children, any ideas on how I can stop this?
