I suspect that my child has developed autism due to the mercury in the diptheria/tetanus/whooping cough vaccine.Any one in Britain feel this has happened to them too? Does anyone know who we should go to for help in testing for this and any possible treatment that may be available if mercury was found in her system? NHS ignoring me.

Thought I would bump this up for you Melsmummy ... so that hopefully Jimjams or Davros or Coppertop or someone with experience of Autism can see it ....
Hope you get some answers soon ...

Melsmummy - you might also find it useful to look through the Special Needs topic and old threads to do with Autism.

Bump this up again tomorrow, melsmummy. I'm sure you'll get loads of responses. Unfortunately most of the posters who'd be likely to give you some answers are not usually around the site late at night. Sorry to hear this has happened, and I hope you'll get the assistance and answers you need.

We suspect that thimerosil was ds1's first hit. (he fits the profile of the Columbia paper).

You won't get any help from the NHS and it will be very difficult/impossible to prove any link. We use Nutri-link- they do tests - although we haven't had a mercury test yet (they do as few as possible- but you could ask them about it). They use gentle nutritional chelation protocols - but build up to that- and we haven't got there yet. You can use medical chelation, some people do it without medical supervision buying in the chemicals from the States. however it is nasty nasty stuff - can lead to heart attacks etc- also although benefits are often seen during chelation, they often disappear when chelation is stopped. If you type chelation and autism into google you'll get plenty of hits though.

measuring mercury is hard to do accurately. Autistic children usually show lower levels of mercury in their hair than NT children- probably because its sitting elsewhere.

You could try JABS as well- they are a support group for parents of vaccine damaged children.

Hi Melsmummy,

My ds1 (4yrs) is autistic. I don't think the DTP actually triggered his autism but I suspect that it really didn't help matters much. He's had 2 sets of DTP and stopped breathing both times. Instead of the 3rd set of DTP he just had DT and was fine. We're now in a bizarre situation where he's not allowed to have just the DT and so have to choose between another bad reaction to DTP or have him go without any protection at all against tetanus. The system is insane.

The JABS group would be able to give you more information about taking things further if you wanted to. In the meantime feel free to join us over on the Special Needs section if you ever need help, advice, support, or just to have a good old rant.
