2 year old walking “en pointe”

I don’t know how ballet dancers actually stand on their toes, so this is probably the wrong term, but I don’t know else to describe it...

My DD is 2 and a quarter. She recently started walking on tiptoe but not like you normally walk on tiptoes: her toes are bent under, so she’s walking on her toe knuckles.

My other 2 DCs and I have all tried to do it, but can’t. Has anyone else had a child do it? I’ve never seen it before. I don’t imagine it’s anything to worry about but it is rather fascinating.

You’re probably right in that it’s probably nothing to worry about but it might be worth doing the M-Chat test Smile

Thanks Julie. I really don’t think there’s anything wrong - she’s shown no signs of any developmental issues - if anything, she’s a bit ahead of where her older siblings were at this age. I was just curious because I’ve never seen bent-over-toe tiptoeing.
