First time Mum and baby doing really well - nearly 7 weeks old and gaining weight well and exclusively breastfed on demand. I think she is going through a growth spurt and has been quite fussy last couple days - feeding constantly one day then sleeping most of another day and crying more than normal and not liking not being in my arms!!! Does this all sound normal? Also last night ( it had been quite a busy end to the day and think she was very tired) she was feeding and kept going for the boob but at the same time was crying hysterically so she couldn't actually feed - nothing helped - so distressing as seemed she wanted to feed but couldn't calm down or stop crying enough to do it. Maybe overtired? Her temp was fine and no other reasons for pain. On the end I laid her down and she calmed enough after a while to feed lying down- it was a brutal hour or so though and not like her! Anyone else have similar during this growth spurt?

Sounds like something we went through. Have you had her checked out for tongue tie? Our little one kept crying after every feed because she could not get enough milk and was hungry. We realized it after 8 weeks and got her tongue tie sorted. You can get your health visitor to check.......

I could have written your post as going through the exact same thing with my 6 week old DC.

I think they are prone to being overtired at this age. The being so cross they won’t feed has happen to us a couple of times, I’ve resorted to just persevering with getting her to relax. White noise helps - we have a app which is worth a try if you haven’t already done so.

Re the feeding like mad one day then sleeping the next, same is happening here. Think it’s a growth spurt. Yesterday was a sleepy day, but today has been fussy and unsettled.
