Calling hairdressers

Hi ladies. Basically my 2 year old (3 in July) HATES his head, ears touched so much so. He screams the place down when he is having his hair cut.

It takes the poor lady about an hour just to cut his hair. It took 4 people to hold him while she cut it. (Both use that as a last resort) he will cling on to me for dear life (and that's ok I don't mind holding him while she cuts it) but he gets himself into a right state and it's horrible watching.

My question is there anything I can do in my end to just help. I thought maybe playing with his hair or something. Or even watching/sitting on my knee while I had my cut. I get told time and time again 'oh he will grow out of it one day' I just don't want to make every trip traumatic for him

To be honest I think its a bit OTT to let four people hold your child down to have his hair cut. Just let it grow? After all it won't really hurt him. Hopefully in a few months he might let you trim his fringe at home.

Oh trust me. I think it was too. And I wasn't too happy about it either. It's the only thing I could think off. So he stopped hitting the poor woman.

That was his worst one. But I think he got freaked out cos he had a different woman then he is use too. He normal just crys and shakes his head so she can't do anything and clings to me.

I do think about letting it grow until he understand but he sweats so much during his sleep he wakes up soaking wet.

He use to have it cut sitting in his pram. Now he refuses to sit in on all hell has broken lose.

Can you get it done at home? Stick him in front of the tv/laptop/phone whatever and feed him chocolate biscuits/treats or bribe him until it's over? That's what I do 😉

I was thinking that. Actually was thinking of cutting it myself when he is asleep 😂😂😂 but I know that won't work 😂😂

I could ask. Since the hairdresser that we use just lI've just across the street. 🤔🤔

So my son hates having his hair cut, there is no way on this Earth I would allow one person, let alone four, to hold him down.
Your son will need to do many things in this life - wear shoes, go to the dentist, see the GP, but having his haircut is not one of them.

I do understand, in the moment it’s hard to get prospective. You brought him out for a haircut so a haircut is what you were going to do. But if he hates it that much why would you persist?

I once found myself holding my screaming son still while the hairdresser went to work before I caught myself and realised how awfully I was treating my son.

What was worse is the hairdresser (who ran a children’s salon) said mums did this all the time.

Let it grow.
