Establishing a routine from 12 weeks

My LG has just turned 12 weeks and I am wanting to start to introduce a routine with her and hopefully get her to sleep through the night. At the moment it is very hot and miss and she can sometimes go from 8pm to 5am without waking and then other times she wakes for a feed at 1-2 am and then again at 5am. She naps often through the day but I am wondering if I should try and limit these as sometimes it can be up up to four hours. I am a first time mum so any help would be greatly appreciated Smile

Just a gentle thought.... There's a good chance it'll all go up in the air at 4 months if you have a regression! I know every baby is very very different but I started worrying about a routine from 12 weeks (as i'd heard that's when "bad" habits form), didn't really get anywhere then bam, 16 weeks and waking every 1.5h through the night. And not sleeping more than 20 mins in the day fine naps.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I wish I hadn't spent my time worrying about routines. Even now, 6 month old will alternate nights where he sleeps for 8h (!) and nights where he wakes every second hour and I'll be damned if I can identify why!!

So.... That's my experience. But I know there are babies out there who escape the mythical regression and thrive on routines (I'm just jealous! Wink)
