I have 2.2 yr old twin girls and one of them just climbs everything and it is doing my head in!!!! . any ideas how i can stop her or at least reduce the climbing. Today i have found her on the tv unit, dining room table and other places. I can't watch her 24/7 and obviously she is a twin so i have to look after her sister aswell. It's really hard to do a naughty step/time out situation with her as her sister always wants to investigate what is going on!
I have tried moving furniture in a way that makes it difficult for her to climb things but she always finds a way.
Any advice greatly appreciated. I am really scared that she is going to hurt herself when i am not looking one day.

nvj, my sympathies. I have a 16 month old who does exactly the same. No high surface is safe from her. it's very tiring as we can't leave her alone in certain rooms, especially the kitchen or anywhere near her 5 week old brother. There's not alot you can do apart from keep taking her off, being around and waiting for this phase to stop,

more sympathy here - I have a 13 mth mountain climber ... we work on the polciy of upturning anything that consititutes a 'first step' so she can't start ... occassionally works

I have a 2.7 yo climber.

He also moves furniture around to get up on things.

I have no idea what to do about it but it doesn't worry me too much. I think it's a stage most kids go through.

thanks for your replies, think i'm just having one of those days!!
the only thing i'm worried about is her hurting herself if she falls as sometimes she is up quite high and i wouldn't want anything to fall on her either (like the tv!!)
will just have to ride it out i guess.... it's very tiring though when you have told her for the 100th time that day to get down off the glass topped coffee table!!

bad mummy alert but I just let my dd climb (I drew the line at the step ladder though!!) She's two now, and I took the stairgates down when she was 17 mths (she's never fallen). I think that by letting her climb and figure things out for herself, she has learnt to climb very carefully. So on top of the piano, mantlepiece, table etc. I let her get on with it.
