How much imagination is too much imagination?

My 3.5 year old has such strong imagination. She always has been and tends to go into the world of whatever is her favourite character, tv show, movie etc is at the time.

Today at the playground she went to play with some of the other kids and she actually introduced herself as Cinderella, and said "I have two step sisters called drizzla (sp?) and Anastasia and they're not very nice to me" - I was thinking gosh if an adult heard they'd think wtf!?

Anyway, should I be concerned? Is this just a phase? She LOVES dressing up, she loves imagining stuff like props and people and she will happily spend all day on role play. It can be difficult to snap her out of it and sometimes it does get annoying as I just want to have her back in the real world. Lol.

I've just signed her up to drama so she can utilise her imagination but just don't know if this is normal behaviour.

Bump for you

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it st all. My daughter plays as different characters I’ve no concern. I honestly wouldn’t worry. I take it she’s a massive Disney fan lol

Is this your only concern OP? If there is nothing else, try not to worry. Most 3 year olds are totally bonkers.

Some children just enjoy this type of play. My 6 and 8 year olds still play a lot of make-believe games.

Absolutely fine for her to say that. You might have to have a word if she involves other people in her pretend play "This is my evil stepmother who makes me clean all day" 😂
