8 year old son - friendship

My son who is 8 constantly runs after/wants to play with a boy in his class. The other boy totally ignores him. It’s hard to watch. I feel it must hurt my son but he never says anything about it. Should I talk to my son about it or just let him work stuff like this out himself? Thanks

Watching with interest. My nearly 8 year is the same. Academically fine but seems a bit less with it than other boys his age and he struggles with friendships.

It’s a difficult one. Kids need to learn things themselves but I’m not sure when to actually step and talk to him about it. I don’t want to hover over my boys but I also want to give them coaching when appropriate. Want to tel him to just forget that kid but emotionally I don’t think he will understand. 😕
