Hey,

Does anyone else have a baby on Ranitidine for reflux? What age/size are they and what dosage are they on? I've been desperately trying to get my DD back to the consultant as her symptoms are much worse again. Gp requested urgent appt 7 weeks ago, and just got a date that's in another 3 months time!! AngryI'm chasing it up, but curious to know what other dosages other children are on so I can sound informed when I take her back to the gp (as they wouldn't review it and wanted her to see consultant instead, but we can't wait any longer).
She's on 1ml -3 times a day, but that was when she was 2 months old (10 pounds). She's now almost 6 months and 16 pounds.

Is anyone else have massive delays getting in to hospital? She's in so much pain with it, it's just horrible that she's having to wait so long to be seen!
Thanks in advance!

My lb now 9.5 months was in ranitidine from 7 weeks his reflux was severe he was out on 1ml 3 times a day to start and they never increased it. I went back twice about how it seems he has regressed with his reflux and when he was 5 months I was told the maximum he could have was 1.2ml.
I only managed to get seen by paed because we took him to out of hours at our local hospital and he was screaming in pain they sent him straight up to children's ward. But we are not under a paed it was only for prescription of ranitidine. We were struggling with getting any follow up about his meds until we had dietician a month ago and she noticed his reflux was not under control and requested a change of medication and ranitidine was working anymore. He is now omeprazole and he is a different boy. Hardly ever sick comfortable at night and generally happier.

It always seems a battle. Fingers crossed for you.

Hey mummy2pickel. So sorry to hear about your little one suffering too, but very pleased he is doing better now! It's crazy that they are just left, if an adult was screaming in pain like that they would be taken straight to a&e! Thank you for sharing your experience. I ended up ringing around and being assertive and actually received a direct phone call from her consultant at hospital. He has put up her dosage to 1.5 ml, 3times a day. If she's no better in a week I am to call back and he will see her urgently. I'm so grateful they finally listened, but it shouldn't take for her to be so ill and mum to ring repeatedly hospital, gp's, health visitors to get help. That's interesting to know about that medication, not heard of that one!
