Toddler hating bath after poo incident

About ten days ago, DS (almost 3) did an accidental poo in the bath. He’s so upset by it and now screams every night at bath time, when before he always really loved it. We’ve tried showers, new toys, endless cuddles and chats and reassurance. He’s not potty trained yet and is resisting any suggestion of it. Any tips?

Take very small steps over the next few weeks.

Swim nappy, feet in the washing up bowl and a wash.

Then swim nappy with washing up bowl in the bath.

Then swim nappy and a small amount of water, standing up while you wash him.

Then sitting down, then more water.

Then no nappy.

Thanks Captain. It’s been a real challenge. I’ll try this tomorrow.

I'm guessing it didn't work?

Even more tantrummy than normal. I’m going to try playing in the bath with swim nappy during the day tomorrow, maybe with paints or bubbles or something.

Good idea, or failing that just playing in the bathroom.

We had just the same recently! First night after incident we abandoned bath time, second night (sensing tantrum coming) my dh got in the bath with dd and played. Now all fine again
