Help! Baby feeds only from one side

Please reasure me! 😭
My DD starting from this morning around 4am to refuse my right breast. She is screaming when I put her on that side. I have tried every position that I know, even stay above her to try to make her thing is the left breast. But as soon as she put her mouth on the nipple she realises that is the right one and refuses to eat.
No signs of infection in the breast, no signs of problems with the baby.
Is because of the heatwave that we had? Or just plain fussy? Should I insist with feeding on right aide tonight?

Oh no, sorry to hear this. Are you engorged? Could it be that she's finding it more difficult to latch on this side?

Hard to know what might help. How old is your baby?. Try posting in infant feeding folder? Or calling a BF helpline?

Many possibilities - ear infection, torticollis, weird preference that will just go, long term preference that may stay with no real consequence...

My third did this. I think he was more comfortable being held in my left arm for some reason, he would happily feed off my right side if I lay down next to him to feed but not while holding him unless I rocked him nearly to sleep first.

It started at about 6 weeks and he's 5 months now and is mostly feeding on it with me holding him again now, though still sometimes have to stand and rock him as he feeds or lay down to feed when its off the right side.

Make sure you hand express to avoid it getting too engorged and uncomfortable until you manage to get her on it. I'd try rocking her to sleep and feeding her while sleepy off the right side to try and relieve it a bit.
It could be to do with milk flow too, the one DS rejected always seems to have a slightly faster flow when expressing and I think it was a bit too quick for him, then once he'd refused it a bit it was way quicker flow and sort of built up a cycle of him preferring the left side.

How old is your DD? For no apparent reason at about 4 months my DS decided he would no longer feed from my left side. I kept trying for a week or so but he would get so upset until I flipped him round that eventually i just stopped trying. He's just turned 13 months and still happily feeding from my right side only, always gained weight well (in fact he's a chunk). The only downside is that I am now noticeably lop-sided, I'm hoping it will correct itself if I ever manage to stop feeding DS.
