Just interested. I have one son who is 2 and who has always been on the 98th percentile for weight. The other is 1 and hovers around the 25th percentile. In your experience will I have one big teenager/adult son and one small one??

IME, Evanmom - no! I mean you might, but centiles are based on averages (or means or whatever they are) so I bet only 1 in 100 end up where they're supposed to - half will be bigger and half will be smaller. (Possibly. Or not. Am not mathematician. )

DD1 was below 10th centile throughout childhood - DD2 was above 75th; at 22 and 19 they are now almost exactly the same height (5'7)!!! Have totally different shapes mind you.

DS1 was c 50th throughout and up to age 15½ was relatively shorter and shorter compared with early-growing peers; at just turned 16 he is now nearly 6' and hasn't finished growing yet.

So your 2 could easily end up the same size - or the smaller one could end up taller - it's one of the exciting mysteries of rearing kids!

Well that's good!
ds1 is VERY stocky and everyone says ds2 looks big (but he's not actually). ds1 birthweight was 9lbs, ds2 6lbs!
dh worries because ds1 is 98th+ for weight and just under the 50th for height so he reckons he's sired a short squat lad. So what's wrong with that? dh plays rugby so I reckon is trying to figure out which position they'll play!!!He worries that his second little lad is so 'small'.

My son was and still is 98th centile at age 10, I cannot see him not towering above me next year, he is already 5ft 1 and 6.5 stone with size 6 feet!
DD is tiny at 21 mths she weighs 20lbs and measures a diddy 79 cms, about the size of a 12 mth old
I always expect her to be petite, hopefully though she won't inherit my huge jugs too!

He may well stop growing v early though, Piffle. Some tall kids do, some don't.

When I started sec school at 11 I was barely 5' and there were 2 very tall girls I specifically remember who were 5'5 and 5'7. When we left at 18 they were still 5'5 and 5'7 and I was 6'.

I am 5'0 and DH is 6'1". My 2yo DD is just above average on the centile scales. Hope she stays around there and doesn't end up short like me - I would love her not to have to have the same hassles when clothes shopping!
