First time mum so not sure if its normal for my baby almost 14 months still babbling not able to say one word still. Spoke to HV at 12 months check but not seems to be very concerned. Im singing and speaking to him whenever i can to encourage him to speak but cannot help to worry a bit.

My son was exactly the same at this age, he is now 22 months old and has quite a few words he uses and will repeat what we ask him! Honestly it will come, try not to worry but I know that’s easier said than done. X

Do you have any worries about his hearing? Can he understand simple sentences? For example if you said "get me the socks" would he know what you meant?

My boys weren't speaking at that age (too interested in mastering physical stuff) and were over 2 before first words. If they made noise, it was to get my attention. Do you leave pauses when you talk to him (as if you were having a conversation ) ? He might surprise you and fill it that space?
