Overly touchy 10mth old Girl....

My 10 month old girl, is a very touchy with other babies, but really heavy handed. We're trying to teach her to be gentle, showing her how to touch nicely, and repeating phrases gently, or nicely. Yet she's still bishing and boshing the poor wee bairns.
Any ideas on how to deal with this. At present, we're having to follow her around and constantly pull her away, but she loves to roam freely.

Too young just repeat nicely or gentle and at some point she will be nicer.

Sorry that is what babies do, you are wasting your breath but she'll get the idea eventually but could be a good while. They have no idea that they may cause pain.

Yup, i'm afraid that is one of the reasons babies and young toddlers are so exhausting, you just have to follow them about and stop them getting into trouble! I agree that it's worth just telling her to be gentle, but rather than focus on that, just give her a toy or something else for her to focus on, or scoop her up and show her something outside or wherever;

diversion is what you need here.

Hello Suave - I am so glad you posted this, I am having the same problem with my 1 year old, has been doing it managably since about your little girls age, but now running he is grabbing at kids, kissing them roughly and knocking them over because he is bigger and stronger than they are - he means well he is just rough and tumble. I dont want to stop his happy energy or enthusiasm, but I dont want him to hurt other children. Glad it is not just my boy - I feel a little sad when other moms give you a polite but get your kid away look
