High chair help

My ds is nearly 11 months and hates his highchair. He screams and kicks at the tray whenever he is in it. It's an expensive one with plenty of padding and looks very comfortable. I have tried high chair toys etc but he hates being confined and it stops him from eating. If he is on the floor he will eat all his food and not complain but he won't sit still and wants to crawl whilst eating. Any ideas?

Have you tried a little cartoon or music to distract him while he's in the chair? I used to have to do this with ds until he was about 18 months but it worked! I'd set up a cartoon or childrens music video on my laptop on the kitchen table and it would hold his attention enough to forget trying to escape and then he would start eating slowly after he'd calmed himself.
