swearing

My 3 year old daughter is swearing, as she has heard some words on the bus and other places.

We tried all sorts, but she loves saying the shocking F word. I am embarrassed as she is so small to do this. We have a naughty step, and she has to apologize.

Any suggestions?

I usually ignore my DD (2.10yo) when she swears and she gets bored of saying it as it's not getting my attention..
Or quickly changing the subject - "Oh look out of the window! Can you see the aeroplane?"

Have you tried that yet?

At 3 years old I would just ignore it. I would imagine that it will fall out of her vocabulary quite quickly if she doesn't hear it for a while.

Thanks, I will try it.

Say to ds (4) that they are silly words which we can't hear and then steadfastly ignore them.
