Best books for baby signing?

What are the best resources for learning baby signing? I've been warned that most use American Sign Language - is this a problem, and if so, does anyone know of any books that use BSL? Top tips please!

Also please let me know if there are any classes in the Islington/North London area - I haven't found any yet.

I don't think there's any problem about signing in "American" as this is a langauge you both will learn to comunicate with each other through babyhood, if your baby needed to continue signing through out his life I would be concerned about getting the signs other signing people in this country could understand but if your baby doesn't hav those needs you can even make up the signs (DS has invented a couple of them to let us know what he wants ).

I found Joseph Garcia's book the best and you can even get a video with one of the editions.

Theres one in New Southgate , Ill find the details and see if I can link it for you.

The Tiny Talk in New Southgate is on its summer break, but will be restarting in September. Call 0771 7686256 if you want some details. Or I can give you info via CAT as its cheaper than calling a mobile! I would recommend it; my ds doesn't do signs yet, but he's understanding lots now when you do them to him... home, daddy, sleep, milk, food etc. I'm hoping he'll get the idea of signing himself very soon.

If anyone is interested there is a new CBeebies programme starting today called "Something Special". It is based on Makaton signing so could be a useful way to pick up lots of signs. It's presented by Justin from Tikkabilla.
