We have been part time co sleeping with DS (8 months) almost sinse he was born, me and dh enjoy this and have not been in any hurry to move him, even though he is wriggly and takes up most of the bed. However he is now trying to open our eyelids when we are asleep or holds our noses closed to wake us up!! Very clever but not so nice at 3am!!
He goes in his cot in his own room from 7pm till 11pm, then comes in with us, feeds at 12ish then again at 4am, then wakes at 6.30ish.
I have tried feeding him at 11 when he wakes and putting him back in his cot, but he doesnt last very long and really wants to come into our bed.
Has anyone successfully done it, without resorting to controlled crying?

I moved DS into his own room at about 6 months after co sleeping, but had a matress on the floor in his room where I would lie down and feed him when he woke at night then sneak out once asleep. He used to wake once or twice a night. Eventually changed bedtime routine so he was not feeding to sleep but falling asleep himself and from about 15months has slept through in his own room from 7.30 for about 12 hours. Occasionally now if he wakes in the night he might come into our bed, but no longer breastfeeding so he just goes to sleep.
