Hi my DD 7 is due to go to a cinema party tomorrow, this is the first party she's been invited to that will mean us dropping her off and leaving her. She said she was happy to be left. Tonight she has gone up to bed very happy but after being in bed about an hour she has called me up, she was very distressed and said she's upset because she doesn't want me to leave her tomorrow. When I've asked why she just said it makes her scared. She goes to school ok, one day this week she was there from 7.30am until 5pm so I cannot understand this sudden upset. She still wants to go to the party, it's her Best Friend's. Do I book a ticket or do I drop her off as planned?

I would drop her off as planned. Sounds like it is just the fear of the unknown, which is completely understandable. I still get nervous of new situations and I'm in my 40s!!!

My DS often did this and and we always went to the party and saw how he felt. No pressure, I made sure he knew that he didn't have to stay, but that I wasn't invited and couldn't stay with him.

Let her know that her friends mum/dad has your number and if she needs you you'll come straight back. As soon as she sees her friend I'm sure she will relax and have a great time Smile
