My son who lives with his mum has become addicted to his xbox. When he's time limited on it he becomes morose and throws tantrums.
Anyone have similar problems and can advise action?

Sounds like he needs to go cold turkey for a while. There will be anger and tears but it will get better if he has lots to do to distract him (ideally out of the house)

If he's at secondary with his own phone, you might have to take that away from him so he does not use it as a replacement for Xbox. (I'm assuming he'll have a smart phone)

Thanks for your advice. I'm planning to have him stay with me for a week from next Wednesday so he'll be away from his Xbox and very close to his schoolfriends for outside play.
I'm better at sustaining his anger outbursts than his mum and have the time between end of school and bedtime to occupy him. He's also keen for me to help him build a model plane so that's something we can do together.
Wish me luck!
