Thumb sucking 2 yr old: teeth

Clare123 · 29/04/2007 18:57

Our 2 year old sucks her thumb a lot and now her teeth look like they are starting to stick out. I really don't know what to do about it as I don't want to make it more of a problem than it already is. I am considering a thumb guard, but I honestly don't feel my heart is in it - just seems so ruthless. Has anyone got any experience with this? Any advice?

Thank you!!

Have you spoken to your dentist about it?

Mine just recommended trying to wean my child off it when he starts school
Mine only sucks it when tired but they are sticking out already

My 4 yr old has just stopped sucking her thumb (she got a cut on it and I put a plaster on it and she's never put it back in). Her teeth stick out a little but the dentist has said that when her big teeth come through they'll come through straight, which was a relief.
