7 month waking in the night - won’t settle

Hey all,
My 7 mth old little boy used to be a great sleeper and from 4 months had slept through the night - there was an occasional wake up but giving him the dummy sent him back off.
For the previous 2 weeks he’s been waking at about 2 or 3 am and crying, he can be settled back to sleep but will then wake again and will be crying even with the dummy in his mouth.
We’ve been taking the easy option and getting him back in with us and he goes straight back to sleep but he will not stay in the cot.
The fact he goes straight back off in our bed makes me think it’s not hunger/teeth etc so what could it be.
His day time napping is generally good.
Thanks

It could just be he wants to sleep with you. It's up to your family to decide if that's something you want to do. When I was pregnant south DS1 I swore I would never have a baby in the bed then he arrived with a quite different agenda and having him in the bed meant we all got some sleep. I should he was an awful sleeper and didn't sleep through (midnight - 6) until he was nearly 2.

We don’t want to co sleep, it stresses me out and I don’t sleep worrying I’ll accidentally put my hand on his face or OH will roll on him xx

My 7 month old now takes up to an hour to settle in the middle of the night too. We are being persistent in putting him in cot (over&over) when not crying. Takes an hour but eventually sleeps in cot. I hope it's a phase they grow out of soon.
