Is cognitive behavior therapy good for children?

Hi, I am a mom of eight-year-old girl. We are living in Toronto. My daughter is calm and quiet in nature. We thought that it will change accordingly. But she became more silent day by day. Nowadays it is clear that she is not interested in social activities and programs. Her friends always support and compel her to participate in events and programs. But she is not interested in any kind of extracurricular activities. I have discussed this with one of my friends. She suggested me to consult a therapist because it may be the starting of some social anxiety. I have heard that cognitive behavior therapy is good for anxiety-related disorders. Is this treatment good for children? Please, share your views.
