Not sure what to do

My ds is 3.2years, and he has a step to sit on to calm down etc. However, he also know's sorry, and to give a cwtch (this is normally for things like hitting out, pushing dd etc).

However, he now says sorry as soon as we say to sit on the step.
Should we still make him get on the step (as it is a time-out, being ignored for two minutes etc), or should he be allowed to carry on after saying sorry?

Confused!

Thanks

he is supposed to still do his timeout. Otherwise he will think that he can do anything naughty, say sorry immediately and 'get away with it'.

Still make him sit there for 3 mins (1 min for each year). Dd1 does this sometimes and other times even after sitting there she does'nt say sorry and she has to stay there until she does say it.

I thought that is what I should do tbh,as I don't believe he understands sorry, he just knows that is what he needs to say!!

Thanks

Bit off topioc, but we use cwtch too- never realised this is how you spell it though(presume that it's the same word, sounds like butch and not just a typo ))
