When did you give your DC a piece of paper and crayons to draw?

What tipe of crayons and where to get them?

My ds had crayons from about 18mths at home but earlier at nursery. Have crayolla wax crayons at home which are suitable from 12mths - chunky but small.

Crayola do washable ones and elc do chunky , easy to grip ones. ds wasn't interested but dd was from about 15 months. Oversized chalks work well if you have a patio, easy to wash away too.

Mine is 22 months and still just eats her crayons.
Aquadraw has been a big success since Xmas though.

From about 2, I tried prior to that but niether of them had any real concept of the relationship of the crayons to paper or the desire to do anything with them other than shove them in various oriffices.

My dd is 2.3 and she still draws on walls, floor and anything but paper when Im not looking!!!! But she loves drawing so much I feel awful taking them off her. I have to hide them and get them out when I have time to sit with her.
Aquadraw is pretty good for little ones.

I got dd some short, chunky wax crayons from ELC when she was about 20 months. She was never really fussed about them, though, and didn't bother all that much with drawing until she started Reception - and then she loved it. Even at pre-school she would only draw when she had to, she would never chose to do so.

She did like chalks though, and had a blackboard and some chunky chalks from about 18 months.

Oh forgot to say, I 1st gave her crayons at about 1 yr old (i think )

We also had a Fisher Price drawing board (this ) toy for dd which was a non messy option as a baby/toddler and later a Tomy Megaskecher.
