3-4 year old girls-are they all like this?

My previously angelically behaved dd1 (3.8) is driving me crackers.

She is normally a very well behaved child,but recently,has an answer for everything,argues with me,answers back & is quite defiant.From a child that never had a tantrum previously,it is quite an eye opener.When I tell her off,she says that she is sorry,& looks very crestfallen,but then goes on to do exactly the same thing a few minutes later.She just can't seem to stop herself

She is quite bossy towards dd2,who is nearly 2 & is very quick to tell her off,which upsets dd2 no end.

My mum says that 4 year olds are worse than 2 year olds behaviourwise,as they think they know it all.Another mother of a girl the same age at dd1's pre school,says that her dd is far worse than mine at answering back & it is a girl thing.

Any advice or experience of anything similar?I'm hoping it is just a phase & will pass before she starts school in September.

Oh dear, and here's me thinking it will get better

My dd is 3.3 YO and is exactly the same, so no advice i am afraid but i am going through it too so you are not alone!

It's the age, I think, it's a hard age on the parent. they haven't just got autonomy, they have opinions too. 3.8 is when ds1 'cracked it' and suddenly got easier.

She will get to about 4 and become Very Keen on rules, I bet!

I've got a 2 year old and a 4 year old, and i think the 2 year old is much easier. She's laid back and happy pretty much all the time.

DD1 is quite emotional, sensitive, bossy, demanding, - also really really good fun and funny and lovely to be around, but she does sometimes sound like a 15 year old, there's alot of high drama and wailing and flouncing and slamming doors. Lots of yelling 'you don't even LOVE me!' and 'you're so unfair to me x is so much luckier than me, i'm the unluckiest girl in the WORLD!' etc etc.

So is there a period between now and puberty where they don't say those things?
